The Start of Something Good

This blog will be chronicling the formation and beginnings of an exciting new chapter in my life, Alley Cat Comics & Games. Alley Cat will be a full-service comic book and gaming retail store in the northwest region of Columbus, Ohio (serving Powell and Dublin) that will, Lord willing, open it’s doors in September 2007.

Why do this? A lot of reasons actually. The fanboy answer is that it’s been a longtime dream of mine to have my own shop. I’ve been reading comics since I was 7 years old and playing RPGs (role-playing games) and tabletop wargames since high school). Plus, there are no comic book or gaming stores in my area of town. I want to rectify that. I believe that this is a viable business opportunity in this area of Metro Columbus. Most of all, I want to provide our community with a safe, clean and fun place to get their comic fix or play their favorite games and be able to introduce these hobbies to new people at the same time.

So, where are we at? We are currently searching for the just the right location for the store. We’ve got one wonderful spot already, and we were just about to begin negotiating the lease when the owners of the property sold the shopping center! So, that’s put us back at square one until we can get with the new owners. It’s certainly frustrating, but it’s all a part of the process.

Oh, and what about that name? Alley Cat Comics & Games gets it’s name from my sweet 2-1/2 year old daughter, Allie.

So, this blog is the place to watch to get the latest information on our progress in bringing Alley Cat Comics & Games to reality. Keep reading and thanks for coming along for the ride!
