I’m Seeing Red!
Painting commenced today at last! There’s a lot of wall space in here and the walls needed to be resurfaced, holes filled and sanded before the painting could get underway. It’s Sunday night as I type this and the painters assure me the job will be completed tonight. They’ll be at the store late finishing it up. The red walls were getting their second coats this evening while we were there and it’s looking good. It’s finally beginning to look like the store I see in my mind’s eye!
The red wall ends in the back gaming area, where the remaining walls are a nice, rich tan color as you can see in this second picture. The two colors compliment each other nicely. Even better than we thought they would, which is nice.
Tomorrow morning I’ll call Jim from Olympic Flooring, and find out when he’s coming in this week to do the new carpet and flooring. It’s amazing how different the place looks already. Just wait until we start bringing in more fixtures!
I should be receiving my initial shipment from Games Workshop on Monday or Tuesday. GW makes the very popular Warhammer and Warhammer 40K miniatures wargames. This company, based out of England, has ruled the miniatures gaming world for decades. They actually provide the shelving for their line of games, which is great. I have an account set up directly with the company, so I order product directly from them.
Then, on Thursday, Origins begins! I can’t wait. I’m really excited to go to the Expo this year, see new product, attend some retailer seminars put on by GAMA (the gaming trade organization) and play some games! Of course, as I mentioned in the last posting, I’ll be full-on promoting Alley Cat Games & Comics while I’m there, handing out business cards and flyers.
This is going to be a very busy, but exciting week!
Oh, I almost forgot. The skeleton of our website is online. There’s not much there now, and there’s a lot of content and tweaking and graphics that still need to be done. But, thanks to my friend Nate Bohn, it’s coming along! Check it out!
